Here is the second of two successive original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken just East of the Coaling Tipple in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1957. Shown here is a fireman's-side view of Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5510, a T-1 (4-4-4-4) "Duplex" built in Juniata during January of 1946 and retired in December of 1953 after just seven years of revenue service. Beyond it are at least two more T-1's which have also been condemned. |
