Title:
PRR 4726, P-5A, 1953
Description:
Meadows. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Engine Service Tracks at Meadows Yard near Kearny, New Jersey, on 19 September 1953. The photographer is not identified. Prominent here is PRR engine #4726, a P-5A (2-C-2) built by Baldwin-Westinghouse during December of 1932, rated at 3,750 horsepower, and retired in May of 1963. Two more PRR locomotives are also visible here. At the far left is #4747, a P-5A (Modified) built by Baldwin-Westinghouse in March of 1935, rated at 3,750 horsepower, and retired in April of 1962. At the far right is #4806, a GG-1 built by General Electric in June of 1935 and rated at 4,620 horsepower. ("Stoneborobranch"; #12 of 32)
