Description:
Mid-Mountain. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train West of Altoona, Pennsylvania, during mid-June of 1966. Shown here (L to R) is PRR engine #6049 and four other units whose numbers were not recorded. #6049 is an EF-30A built by EMD in 1966 and rated at 3,000 horsepower. They are pulling an eastbound mixed-cargo freight train down the Allegheny Mountains to Altoona and points East.
