It was renumbered ATSF 5910 in the 1969-70 general renumbering and was rebuilt as an SDF45 and renumbered to 5960 in February 1983. It gained SPSF paint sometime between July 31 1985 and July 24 1986. After the failed merger and before Jan 1 1991 it was returned to its previous yellow bonnet paint scheme. Santa Fe retired the unit in March 1994 and it went to Morrison Knudsen Corp. as MKCX 5531. From there it was leased to Utah railway as UTAH 9013. The lease expired in October 2001 and the unit was shipped to Metro East Industries in East St. Louis IL where it remained until July 2008, when it was purchased for conversion into GN 441 as luxury lodgings at the Izaak Walton Inn in Essex MT.
