Dziobko. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by John Dziobko, Jr., that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 25 July 1952. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9615 and two other units whose numbers are not recorded. All were built by the American Locomotive Company. #9615 is an AF-16 built in May of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966. They are about to pass under the 12th Street Foot Bridge after descending the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve with a mixed-cargo freight train. Visible in the background is the trainshed at the Altoona Passenger Station. "Published by Creative Graphics." |
