| A member of the New Haven's FL-9 fleet that once transported trains of passengers between the large stations in New York City and various points in Connecticut and Massachusetts. Number 2023 was built as NH 2057 in the fall of 1960 and also served Penn Central and Conrail later in its career. The unit is also one of four FL-9s rebuilt for the Connecticut DOT in 1985 and restored back to its original McGinnis paint scheme. Retired from commuter operations in 2002, it arrived at the museum a few months later. There were sixty FL-9s constructed by EMD between 1956 and 1960, all for the New Haven. Longer than a standard F unit, they have the capability of operating either on diesel or third rail electric power. |
