I grew up seeing the 101 and 102 operate every day, especially around the Newport yard. Always had so much pride in how nice they looked, in their fresh paint. Hadn't seen them in a LONG time. Was only seeing the black engines and the 1745 for the longest time. Only a few months ago did I see the 102 sitting in Priest River... Believe it or not, it used to be as nice as this photo, actually its a great photo, but anyone who didn't see them in their tip top appearance will have missed out. 102 doesn't look like this anymore, and I can't imagine the 101 looking any better than the 102 now if its still around.... Very sad to see so much rust and such a worn down paint job. But I will always remember them this way. I guess I figured the railroad would have had enough pride in them to keep them looking nice, but I guess not. I know its not something you can just put through the carwash, but.. I dunno. It is well beyond the water, soap, and turtlewax stage now that is for sure. I will see wh
