Seattle is a vibrant city, alive with the buzz of industrial activity. Every time I visit, there are new opportunities to take action photos. Seattle is one of the few terminals on the BNSF where older EMD switch engines can be regularly found performing heavy switching tasks. In this shot, one of my favorite Interbay-based switchers, BNSF SW1500 3422, smokes it up as it pulls on a cut of double-stack cars at the South end of Stacy/Seattle Intermodal Gateway yards. To the left of the engine, a crew member checks his switch list. To the right is the landmark Starbucks Center clock tower. Looming at the top of the scene is the Seattle sky line accented by stereotypical PNW cloud-cover. |
