GM&O train 33 crosses Bayou Pattasat on the main line of the Southern Railway, on its way to Canal Yard in New Orleans. Before 15 May 1970 GM&O GP30's could not lead on the Southern because they lacked the required Automatic Train Stop equipment, visible on the front axle of GP35 644. The date of this slide was after the ATS had been deactivated, but that date may be wrong. The other units are GP30 500 and GP35 637. (month OK, approximate day) |
