| Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad U28C 571 at Clyde, Illinois on March 26, 1966, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This locomotive was built in March 1966 (c/n 35760), became BN 5659 and retired in November 1981. It is either being delivered or has completed its first revenue run as a trailing unit (window shade is down), and is about to enter the Diesel House at Clyde for inspection. The CB&Q received its new rolling stock at Lincoln, Nebraska to avoid Illinois state sales tax. Upon delivery in Lincoln, the new equipment would be weighed and set up for revenue service, or routed to its final destination on the Burlington system. |
