The Rock Island acquired 16 FA-1's (or DL-208A) and 8 FB-1's (or DL-2>9A), delivered as 4500 horsepower A-B-A locomotives numbered in the 145-160 number series (the FB-1's were numbered 145B-152B). Model FA-1 #134 (c/l 76253) was built October 1948. Originally numbered 156 and powered b| an Alco model 244 diesel prime mover, it traded that power plant for an EMD 567 and was re-numbered" It also acquired Blomberg trucks in place of the Alco B trucks and was classed as FA-1m. It has both Alco and EMD builders plates, I have not yet found the EMD construcwion number used on this unit, although the EMD Order was 8514 and an EMD model 16-567C prime mover was installed sometime between March 1956 and December 1957. |
