Description:  Chicago & Western Indiana Railroad RS1 256 at about 47th Street in Chicago, Illinois on May 9, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 256 was built by Alco in November 1949 (c/n 77174), later becoming Genesee & Wyoming 43 sometime after Dearborn Station closed in 1971. The C&WI was the owner of Dearborn Street Station in Chicago and provided switching service for the tenants (Monon, Wabash, Erie and AT&SF).

CWI Alco RS1 #260 - Chicago & Western indiana
Title:  CWI Alco RS1 #260 - Chicago & Western indiana
Description:  Built by Alco, in February of 1950z, it was bound for the Chicago & Western Indiana roster as CWI RS1 #260. In 1971, the unit was purchased by the Genesee & Wyoming Railroad who quickly resold it to the Eastman Kodak Company in 1971. It was delivered to the Kodak Park Railroad in November of that year to serve the sprawling film and camera manufacturing facility in Rochester. After serving the industrial railroad for more than 25 years, the loco was donated to the Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum on October 14, 1997, in an official ceremony at the museum. By 1991 as a picture posted in RRPA by Steve Pappas, all that was left of the once proud RS1 was a rusting cab and nose.
