BOSTON & MAINE ROUNDHOUSE |
Description: |
The rear wall of the East Somerville roundhouse was glass brick which made the interior very light. The large size of the building makes the rear wall in my shot look almost straight when in fact it is circular (the radious of the rear wall was probably 300 feet but Im guessing. P-2d 3622 was built by Schenectady in 1911 and scrapped Sept. 1956. The engine in front is H-2a 0-8-0 622 which was retained for snow melting until July 1957 but it hadn't been used for switching for a number of years. |

BOSTON & MAINE PACIFIC AT THE COACH YARD |
Description: |
P-2b 4-6-2 3672 has just uncoupled from a string of diesels which moved to the coach yard as a group. Each locomotive is now moving to its train in the coach yard and will then back the train to North Station, Boston. 3672 was built by Schenectady in 1913 and scrapped about five months after I saw her this day. |

B&M's BOSTON ROUNDHOUSE |
Description: |
The Boston & Maine's gigantic roundhouse at East Somerville wasn't what you might expect - it was light and neat as you can see from this shot I took near the end of steam activity. |

BOSTON & MAINE P-2b 3673 |
Description: |
The B&M 4-6-2 is at Lynn with an evening Boston to Marblehead commuter train. Steam was several years in the past where I lived in RI so I decided I would ride a steam commuter from Boston to Lynn before it was too late. |
