Caught by an unknown photographer is CNW 4-6-2 Pacific #605 sitting in the Proviso Yard. Built by Alco-Schenectady in December of 1915, it was one of about 200 in the 4-6-2 Pacific fleet used for commuter service around the Chicago area. The loco was renumbered late in 1952 to CNW 605. No final disposition date was found for this loco. Specs - serial #55535, class E, 75" drivers, 185 psi boiler pressure, 25x28" cylidners, engine wt of 261,000 lb, tractive effort of 36,700 lb. A stoker was applied in October of 1943. No photographer was listed for the photo. |
