Pullman Troop Sleeper - Wabash Valley RR Museum |
Description: |
In the process of being restored is this Pullman built troop sleeper used during WW II. After the war, the car assed through the hands of the C&EI, L&N and finally CSX who donated it to the museum in the early 1980's. It's looking pretty good for a WW II car! |

PRR Turner Depot - Wabash Valley RR Museum |
Description: |
The former Pennsylvania RR depot and freight agency was moved from Turner, IN about 10 miles east of Terre Haute to the museum in 2005. It was originally built by the Terre Haute & Indianapolis Railroad in the late 1800's. After several consolidations and buyouts, the little depot landed in the hands of the Pennsylvania RR. The little depot has been beautifully restored by the museum and serves as the museum's gift shop. |

Vandalia Sign - Wabash Valley RR Museum |
Description: |
The name Vandalia RR is almost a sacred word, especially in the area around Terre Haute. The origins of the Vandalia Railroad involved mnay smaller lines like the Terre Haute & Indianapolis, Terre Haute and Logansport, and the Indiana & Vincennes Railroad. The line eventually was absorbed into the PRR, then Penn Central, Conrail and finally CSX. Still the word "Vandalia" brings back many memories! |
