Album Info:
Here is a seven-page article by Mr. Sy Reich entitled "Pennsylvania Railroad Motive Power Roster." It was published originally in the August 1957 issue of "Railroad" magazine, pages 36-37 and 55-59. This is a complete roster as of 01 January 1957. It includes steam, electric, and diesel-electric locomotive types, as well as those engines leased by and to the Pennsylvania Railroad Company.

Visible at the far right of the photo is PRR engine #439, a B-6SB (0-6-0) switcher built in Juniata during October of 1916 and retired in October of 1956 after 40 years of service.

Top Left-Hand Photo: Shown here is PRR engine #5940, an L-6A built by the Lima Locomotive Works in May of 1934, rated at 2,500 horsepower, renumbered "4791" in November of 1966, and retired in April of 1968. Bottom Left-Hand Photo: Shown here is PRR engine #4764, a P-5A built by General Electric in September of 1932, rated at 3,750 horsepower, and retired in November of 1961. Bottom Right-Hand Photo: Shown here is PRR engine #7857, an O-1C built in Juniata in December of 1931, rated at 2,500 horsepower, and retired in June of 1961.

Here is page three of a seven-page article by Sy Reich entitled "Pennsylvania Railroad Motive Power Roster." It was published originally in the August 1957 issue of "Railroad" magazine, page 55. Partial Caption: "Although the Pennsy did more than any other system to develop the steam engine, it now relies mostly on diesel-electrics. This Also-GE road switcher, Class AS-16ms, rests under a Pittsburgh coal and sand tower and water plug." Shown here is PRR engine #8856, an AS-16MS built by the American Locomotive Company in January of 1952, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in October of 1967 after just 15 years of revenue service.
