| By: | Alan Page | | Dates: | 9/5/2014 - 11/15/2015 | | Album Info: | From early September, 2014 through May, 2015, Tyrone was the scene for ballast trains led by mostly SD50-2’s, a few SD40-2’s, a GP40-2 and a lone B40-8.
In early September, 2014, ex-C&O and CR SD50-2’s 8571 and 2490 laid over with a line of hoppers. In early January, 2015, ex-CR SD50-2’s 2483 and 2475 hustled ballast NB through the fog. On February 8, 2015, ex-C&O SD40-2 8369 joined ex-CR SD50-2 2493 on their layover. On February 18, 2015, ex-CR SD50's 2489 and 2498 laid over with their ballast load. On March 3, 2015, ex-CR SD50-2's 2485 and 2486 rolled SB through the rain with a load of empties. Also that day, ex-CR B40-8 5953 broke the EMD string by joining ex-B&O GP40-2 6145 laying over with their hoppers. Just before summer in May, 2015, a new face joined the ballast workers with CITX SD40-2 3065 joining ex-L&N SD40-2 8033 with their load of empties.
The old signals were still operational, but the new signals were in place, at N.E. Tyrone in November 15, 2015. |
